So many of the races I have been doing are a long drive away. I decided it might be nice to sign up for something around San Diego. Something I can roll out of bed and go do without all the planning and expense of hotels or campgrounds.
I found the perfect one. The Giro di San Diego Gran Fondo!

It is a 105 mile ride that includes 11,000 feet of climbing. The route will take me from Kit Carson Park in Escondido, up Palomar Mountain, across Mesa Grande and back.

The Giro di San Diego Gran Fondo is the perfect all day grind with a short drive home for me. Kit Carson Park is like 7 miles from my house. It will be like any other Saturday where I wake up and go riding. Just a little bit further than usual, a lot more climbing, and at the end, there will be Italian food and beer waiting for me that I don’t have to prepare. It should be a fabulous leg-breaking day!
