Back To 10 Miles – No Blisters

The last few weeks I have been trying to get my run back.  However, I have been having issues with my shoes.  I had switched to a model of Hoka One One shoes last year and loved them except that I would get a blister on my inside left foot.  I went to my local running shoe shop to diagnose the problem.

We found a new pair of Hoka One One shoes that fit like a glove.  However, on the maiden run I got a blister on my the inside heel of my left foot.  Very discouraging.  I love the shoes otherwise.  I would marry them if it weren’t for that issue.

After some additional internet searches around blister fixes, I decided to go for one more run in them.  The fix involved a thin running sock inside of a classic athletic sock with an application of Glide on the heel before putting the socks on.  A sort of double protection system.  The outside sock takes the brunt of the friction while the inside sock lightly slides against the soft outer sock.  Underneath the inside sock the glide provides a durable friction free barrier.  Amazingly, it worked perfect.  I was back in the running game.

Now that I have solved that issue with my Hoka One One Biondi 5 shoes, the goal to increase mileage has rapidly improved.  I really wanted to get to double digits on the weekends though so what better day to make that happen than New Years day!

It was cold today, speed was nothing to brag about but I broke past the 10 mile mark once again.  And, once again, I am happy to report smooth sailing in my shoes.
