I received an email the other day from the Wildflower Experience that said “Due to several external circumstances beyond our control, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the Wildflower Experience in 2019.  Although we are very disappointed to not see you in 2019, the Wildflower Experience will be back, better than ever, in May 2020.  Full refunds will be provided to all participants.”

I am very bummed that the Wildflower Experience was canceled.  I was very much looking forward to the festival atmosphere and racing.  Especially the chance to do the 70.3 distance on Saturday followed by the Olympic on Sunday.

As you might expect, I went hunting for another race to replace it since I am well into training by this point.  I was very excited to find out that IRONMAN 70.3 St. George Utah is the same weekend!  Bonus #2 – The elevations of the routes are very similar so I can keep the same training schedule.  Bonus #3 – The time it takes to drive there is about the same.  A no brainer substitution.
