With the anticipation of large amounts of calories ahead of me on Super Bowl Sunday, I completed all three of the triathlon sports over the last two days.
The first effort began at 7am on Saturday morning at daybreak. Route highlights included climbing up to Hidden Meadows, riding Lilac Loop the hard way from the South, and finishing it off turning around at Rainbow to take the Rice Canyon/Couser Canyon/Lilac climb back plus the evil long climb up from Welk Resort. 59 miles, 6054 feet of climbing and 4,058 calories.

For Sunday, a sort of exercise combo meal was in order. Something cumulative. Plus, I have a full day of meetings tomorrow and it is going to rain for the next two days so I might as well pack as much in as possible.
Stage #1 Core & Stretching – 8am off to the gym. Core abs, abductors to combat that stubborn IT Band, triceps, biceps and stretching. My app did not calculate calories though. Maybe I should wear my all-knowing Garmin next time and see what that says.

And, as always, I end with walking planks. Since my last post, I increased from three sets of 15 walks to 18 walks. Today I told myself we need to get to 3 sets of 20 walks. Here’s the proof that the job got done.
Stage #2 Swimming – After that off to the pool to continue the good news that I can now finally swim. Another 1000m swim and another 235 calories for the day completed without incident.

Stage #3 The Run (And Final Stage) – There was still 2.5 hours before the beginning of the game so as George Clooney often said in Burn After Reading, “Maybe I can get a run in?” 5 miles later and another 726 calories later I was ready for a Fat Tire Amber, some Fritos Scoops and some football. Total calories burned over the two days = 5,019+. Pizza treat might be in order.
