Breakthrough Swim Day #4 – 1000m That Just Happened!

Confidence was high for a change today.  My last session earlier in the week netted me my first 400 meters of continuous swimming.  Today I was determined to leave that record behind me.  As it turned out, I would not be disappointed.

We will keep this post short and sweet.  I was determined, yet calm.  I floated.  I stroked.  I took it easy.  I swam 1000 meters continuously for the first time in my life!  40 continuous laps!

1000

Yes, the small flippers were used (I barely kick though as it wastes energy for the second part of the triathlon on the bike).  Yes, I was wearing a wetsuit (legal for triathlons).  Yes, it finally all came together like everyone said it would.  I even felt like I could have gone longer, but I stopped with reaching my initial goal of swimming 40 laps without stopping that I set way back in October.  The moment needed to be savored.

How many laps do I need for 70.3 Ironman Canada?  70.  Time to set new goals.
